Terms and Conditions

Effective Date: March 23, 2025

Welcome to Island Drive PR. By using our platform, you agree to the following terms and conditions. Please read them carefully.

1. Platform Role

Island Drive PR is a peer-to-peer vehicle sharing platform. We connect vehicle owners (“Hosts”) with individuals looking to rent vehicles (“Renters”).

Note: We do not own, operate, or insure any vehicles listed on our platform.

2. Eligibility

  • Renters must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver's license.
  • Hosts must have:
    • A legally registered vehicle
    • Active insurance in accordance with Puerto Rico law
  • By using the platform, all users confirm that they meet these requirements.

3. Rental Policies

🚗 Vehicle Return

  • Must be returned with the same fuel level
  • Must match the original cleanliness
  • Must be returned with no new damage

🚭 Smoking

  • Strictly prohibited inside vehicles
  • $500 cleaning fee for violations

🐾 Pets

  • Pet policy is set individually by each Host
  • Renters are responsible for reviewing and following the Host’s rules

🕒 Late Returns

  • Late returns will result in a full-day rental charge

📏 Mileage

  • Vehicles must be returned within the mileage limit established by the Host

4. Insurance & Responsibility

  • Island Drive PR does not provide insurance
  • Renters must have valid insurance coverage for the duration of the rental
  • In case of an incident, insurance claims and responsibilities lie between the Renter and the Host

5. Cancellations

Guest Cancellation

Guests may cancel their trip through our site or mobile app, and the cancellation is effective immediately. Whether the guest receives a full refund, partial refund, or no refund depends on the circumstances of the cancellation, including timing, trip type, and duration. The cancellation period is based on the vehicle’s time zone.

✅ Total Refund: Free Cancellation Period

⚠️ Partial Refund: Cancellations After the Free Period

Guests who cancel after the free cancellation window will be charged 100% of the trip price or a fee, depending on the circumstances.

❌ Guest No-Show

If a guest does not cancel and fails to show up within 30 minutes of the scheduled start time, it will be considered a guest no-show. The following are also considered no-shows:

  • Arriving without a valid driver’s license
  • Sending someone else (additional driver) in their place

Island Drive PR will cancel the trip and provide no refund in the event of a guest no-show.

✈️ Exceptions for Flight or Baggage Issues

We understand that travel issues can arise. Exceptions may be made if you experience:

  • A flight delay or cancellation
  • A lost baggage delay

To qualify, guests must:

  1. Notify their host at least one hour before the scheduled start time.
  2. Provide documentation (e.g. airline app screenshot).
  3. Notify Island Drive PR within 24 hours of the trip start time.

If your flight is delayed or canceled more than three days before the trip start time, this policy does not apply.

🎒 Lost Baggage Delays

Guests experiencing lost baggage must:

  • Notify the host no later than 30 minutes after the trip’s scheduled start time
  • Notify Island Drive PR within 24 hours
  • Provide photo documentation of the baggage claim issue

A full refund may be issued if all conditions are met.

🔁 Early Returns

If a guest returns the vehicle before the scheduled end time, Island Drive PR does not issue partial refunds of the rental amount. The deposit may be refunded only if the return complies with the host’s return policy.

Island Drive PR reserves the right to charge a fee for early recovery of the vehicle. Rental cost is calculated based on days booked, recovery location, and timing.

6. Fees & Payments

  • All payments are processed securely through the platform
  • Island Drive PR may charge service fees to Renters and/or Hosts
  • Any applicable fees will be displayed clearly at checkout

7. User Conduct

By using the platform, you agree to:

  • Treat all parties with respect and professionalism
  • Follow local traffic laws and drive responsibly
  • Honor all bookings and agreements made through the platform

8. Account Suspension

Island Drive PR reserves the right to suspend or terminate any account that:

  • Violates these guidelines
  • Engages in fraud or illegal activity
  • Disrespects the community guidelines

9. Disputes

Island Drive PR is not liable for resolving disputes between Hosts and Renters. Users are expected to handle issues directly and professionally, using their respective insurance if necessary.

10. Updates to Terms

We may update these Terms and Conditions at any time. Continued use of the platform implies agreement with the latest version.
