Host Guidelines

Welcome to Island Drive PR!
As a Host, you play a key role in delivering excellent experiences to renters through our peer-to-peer vehicle-sharing platform. Please follow these guidelines to ensure safety, reliability, and professionalism.

1. Vehicle Requirements

  • Your vehicle must:
    • Be registered and insured in Puerto Rico
    • Be well-maintained, clean, and in safe driving condition
    • Have no major mechanical issues or safety concerns

2. Insurance Responsibility

  • Hosts are required to maintain active insurance for each vehicle listed.
  • Island Drive PR does not provide vehicle insurance.
  • In case of damage or an incident, the Host and Renter are responsible for working with their respective insurance providers.

3. Listing Standards

  • Include accurate and detailed information about your vehicle:
    • Clear, current photos of the actual vehicle
    • Key features (e.g., 4x4, Bluetooth, etc.)
    • House rules (e.g., no pets, fuel policy)
  • Set clear pickup and drop-off instructions

4. Guest Communication

  • Respond to booking requests and messages promptly
  • Be polite, professional, and clear in your communication
  • Provide guidance or walkthroughs for any special vehicle features

5. Before Each Trip

  • Ensure the vehicle is:
    • Clean and sanitized
    • Has the agreed fuel level
    • Ready at the pickup time and location
  • Double-check registration and insurance are valid and stored in the vehicle

6. After Each Trip

  • Inspect the vehicle for:
    • New damage
    • Fuel level
    • Cleanliness
  • Document the vehicle’s condition (photos recommended)
  • Report any incidents or no-shows to Island Drive PR as soon as possible

7. Policies and Fees

  • You may define your own:

    • Pet policy
    • Cancellation policy
    • Mileage limit

  • Island Drive PR has a platform-wide:

    • No-smoking rule: $500 fee applies if a renter smokes in the vehicle
    • Late return policy: A full-day fee applies for late returns

8. Cancellations

  • Avoid cancellations whenever possible
  • If you must cancel, notify the renter immediately
  • Excessive cancellations may result in account suspension

9. Safety and Conduct

  • Only list vehicles you own or have permission to rent out
  • Always follow local laws and driving regulations
  • Treat renters with respect and provide a professional experience

10. Violations

Island Drive PR may suspend or remove a Host for:

  • Listing inaccurate or unsafe vehicles
  • Failure to maintain insurance
  • Frequent last-minute cancellations
  • Poor renter experience or unprofessional behavior
